Train

•    There is no direct train or underground connection with the airport, but bus line 128 goes to the nearest metro station at the Kurt Schumacher Platz (line U6).

Bus

•    The airport is eight kilometers northwest of the center of Berlin along the highway (Autobahn) A111. This road makes a connection between the large ring road around Berlin (A10) and the inner-city ring A100. The route to the airport is clearly indicated on each of these roads.
•    Every ten minutes the JetExpressBus TXL (tel: +49(0)30 11861) leaves the airport to the Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) at the Alexanderplatz. The X9, another fast bus, goes to the metro station Berlin Zoo. Buses 128 and 109 connect the airport with various metro stations (U-Bahn) and the city train (Stadt-Bahn).

Taxi

•    Taxis can be found at the garage for short-term parking (PK) and at terminal A1. A ride to the center of Berlin costs approximately €30.00.

•    A shuttle bus goes from these parking areas to the terminal.

Train

•    The S-Bahn train lines S1 and S8 go to the center of Munich. The trains stop at various stations including Hauptbahnhof, Marienplatz, Laim and Ostbahnhof. Travel time is 40 minutes and costs approximately €9.00.

Bus

•    A shuttle bus from Autobus Oberbayern leaves from both Terminals to the central station (Hauptbahnhof) in Munich.

Taxi

•    Taxis are available in front of the Arrivals Hall.
•    Airport/city center: around €50.00 in normal traffic and more expensive when there is heavy traffic.

Opened in 2006, Berlin Hauptbahnhof is Berlin’s main railway station, as well as the largest and most modern crossing station in Europe. It offers regional, national and international railway connections.

The new rail concept for Berlin means shorter journey times and improved services. On long-distance services, the number of stops has increased by 13 percent. With the inauguration of Berlin Hauptbahnhof, changing trains has become much easier.

The Hauptbahnhof links up all the long-distance lines with the S-Bahn and regional trains, so that changing trains has become a lot easier. For Deutsche Bahn customers, the new system is as follows:

•    North-south traffic is concentrated in the Tiergarten tunnel, which reduces journey times significantly, e.g. by 40 minutes on both the Berlin–Stralsund and Berlin–Leipzig lines. Long-distance trains travelling through the Tiergarten tunnel include the Hamburg-Berlin-Leipzig-Munich, Hamburg-Berlin-Dresden-Prague and Stralsund-Berlin-Erfurt services.

•    East-west traffic : The Tiergarten tunnel provides capacity relief to the very busy east-west line (Stadtbahn), on which the Cologne-Hanover-Berlin, Basel/Stuttgart-Frankfurt-Berlin and Berlin-Osnabrück-Amsterdam/Münster services continue to operate.

•    New stops : Additional long-distance and regional train stops were provided at Südkreuz and Gesundbrunnen stations and there are new regional train stops at Jungfernheide, Potsdamer Platz and Lichterfelde Ost stations. Bahnhof Zoo station has now become a regional station in order to reduce journey times on long-distance services.

Munich Hauptbahnhof is Munich’s main railway station, used by around 350,000 passengers a day. It is the southern point of the InterCityExpress line to Hamburg-Altona via the Hanover-Würzburg high-speed rail line. Munich Hauptbahnhof also offers frequent links to Dortmund via Frankfurt and Cologne using the Cologne-Frankfurt high-speed rail line. In addition, there are many InterCity and EuroCity services to most parts of Germany, as well as to neighboring countries including Austria, Switzerland, France and Italy.
