A-Ma Temple
The A-Ma Temple sited on the southwest tip of the Macau Peninsula, is one of the oldest and most famous Taoist temples in Macau. Built during the XVth century and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2005, this temple is dedicated to the seafarers and fishermen' goddess: Matsu. The building includes prayer halls, pavilions and courtyards. It displays some of the finest statues of the goddess in addition to a model of a junk with cannons, brass vessels and chapels to Buddhist and Taoist gods. In addition for being in perfect harmony with its natural environment, this magnificent site boasts spectacular tiled roofs and impressive views from the upper gardens.
Guia Fortress
Built between 1622 and 1638, Guia Fortress is a historical military fort, chapel, and lighthouse complex. Lying in Guia Hill, the highest point on Macau for over 140 years, the Lighthouse is the first modern lighthouse on the Chinese coast and the oldest in East Asia. It boasts a circular observation platform offering a panoramic view of the entire Peninsula and the Historic Centre of Macau.
Macau Tower
Soaring 338 meters above the city, the Macau Tower is one of the highest freestanding towers in Asia and in the world. It is higher than Auckland's Sky Tower, Paris' Eiffel Tower or Sydney's AMP Tower. This popular landmark offers a 4-floor Convention and Entertainment Centre, restaurants, cinema, theaters, shopping malls, a 2-level basement and an outdoor plaza. From its observation deck, you can enjoy magnificent panoramic views of Macau and much of the Pearl River Delta.
The Museum of Macau
Located in the famous Monte Fortress, right in the heart of the city, the Museum of Macau presents an excellent overview of the history, local traditions, and arts and crafts in Macao throughout the times. Implanted within the ancient fortress, the museum’s building spans 2.800 sq. meters and is divided in three floors. It has on display more than 3.000 exhibits and historical relics in addition to paintings and photographs of the former Portuguese colony through the centuries.
