An oriental touch in the city of Gaudi
12/01/2010 Spain
Mandarin Oriental Barcelonanaugurated a few weeks ago with a 100% Spanish gala evening, the Mandarin Oriental Barcelona signals the group’s debut in Southern Europe
Located in the heart of the famous and entertaining Passeig de Gracia district, the hotel distinguishes itself first of all in the lobby where an illuminated glass catwalk awaits the guests, offering them a star-like entrance. Its 98 rooms, designed by Patricia Urquiola, reflect a contemporary ambience, without forgetting the all-important oriental touch, in keeping with the group’s identity. In the kitchen, the five Michelin stars chef, Carme Ruscalleda, delights the gastronomes’ palate with Mediterranean specialities. An outside bar offers a dramatic view on the city and Gaudi’s monuments like the Sagrada Familia. Well-being and serenity interlude in the Iberian effervescence, the 1 000 sq m spa varies cares and massages. The hotel also offers 2 meeting spaces for up to 40 guests.
