There was more success for ExCel London as it was named ‘UK Venue of the Year’ at this year’s prestigious AEO Excellence Awards.

The event venue’s owner, ADNEC (Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre), was also crowned ‘International Venue of the Year’, rounding off a fantastic evening for the company.

Held on 1^st July in the ICC Capital Hall, London’s largest banqueting space and part of ExCel London itself, the awards were organized by the Association of Event Organisers. Considered the flagship ceremony for the live events and exhibition industry, it is attended by more than 1,200 professionals.

The award was collected by David Pegler, managing director at ExCel London, who commented: “This is another fantastic achievement for the team at ExCeL and ADNEC. Coinciding with us marking the ICC’s first birthday, this is genuine testament to the world class facilities we offer and highlights how the new event space can increase event organisers’ meeting and conference event options even further. Our ambition is to be Europe’s leading convention centre and with continued investment in our infrastructure we shall continue to boost London’s appeal as a leading events and business destination for domestic and international events.”

This prestigious accolade followed on from a string of award wins in recent months, including 'World's Leading Meetings and Conference Centre' at the 2010 World Travel Awards and 'Best Venue' at the 2010 Exhibition News Awards.

The largest and most successful exhibition and conference centre in the British capital, ExCel London offers 100,000 m² of entirely flexible exhibition, conference, meeting and event space. With 6 onsite hotels and exceptional transport links, it boasts an impressive infrastructure.

It will also play host to 7 Olympic and 6 Paralympic events in 2012, including boxing, fencing, weight lifting and table tennis.
