Good Units makes the New-Yorker basement buzz

A YMCA gymnasium then a storage shed… Nothing suggested that the basement of the Hudson Hotel might become one of the trendiest spots of the Big Apple.

And yet it happened with the opening a few weeks ago of Good Units, a 2,000 sqm room with a mezzanine. Inaugurated for the 40^th anniversary of the acclaimed “Interview” magazine created by Andy Warhol, the venue can fit all kinds of events, with its sober decor and its grand cube volume. On the upper floors, the ultra-urban Hudson Hotel was designed by fashionable Philippe Starck. A passage from the thrilling New-Yorker life to the low-slung atmosphere of the hotel, the lobby with its ivy ceiling sets the tone from the start. A little further, the same ivy covers the private park and its miscellaneous collection of furniture composed of ancient and new while the library puts on an English touch with its club armchairs, its book collection and its billiard table. The bedrooms, the soul of the establishment, offer an invitation to travel with their decoration worthy of the most beautiful luxurious liners used for transatlantic crossings. On the 15^th floor, the Sky Terrace welcomes up to 200 people for cocktails with New York and the Hudson River as a setting. Also available for events: the penthouse (400 people), the Hudson Bar (200) and 3 boardrooms (15).
