InterContinental sits at the « Crossroads of the World »

Last week, the InterContinental in New York’s Times Square welcomed its first guests. Situated on Eighth Avenue, at the “Crossroads of the World”, as this famous spot is nicknamed, the new-built hotel was conceived as an urban retreat in the heart of the bustling city.

All the public and private spaces have been decorated in the classic Art Deco New York heritage style with a touch of contemporary and natural inspiration. Thus, wood, marble and stone are the favourite materials used both in the lobby and the 607 guestrooms. Spread over 36 stories, the guestrooms have the look of a chic Manhattan residence with their natural and luxurious furniture, their spa-like bathroom and their floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views on the Big Apple and the Hudson River.

French cuisine is honoured at the brasserie inspired restaurant called “Ça va” which is managed by Chef Todd English. All kinds of events can take place in the 1, 000 sq m of dedicated space s which includes the Gotham Grand Ballroom (400 sq m) and 9 meeting rooms all named after Manhattan parks such as Central Park, Bryant Park or Union Square Park.

Thanks to the central location of the hotel, the guests can enjoy a lot of entertainment in the neighbourhood such as musicals on Broadway or shopping on Fifth Avenue. Conscious of ecological issues, the InterContinental New York Times Square is one of the most eco-friendly hotels in the city. The next step of its commitment to this will be achieving its LEED Certification.
