Istanbul hosts 1st ICCA Mediterranean chapter summit
15/07/2008 TurkeyAt a much anticipated gathering, the ICCA Mediterranean Chapter hosted it first Summit in Istanbul from the 27th to the 29th of June 2008
The Summit, hosted by the Istanbul Conventions and Visitors Bureau and coordinated by Cyprus-based SCS Ltd, was the successful culmination of a year’s worth of preparations to bring together members of the largest of ICCA’s 11 chapters to exchange leads, establish cross-chapter cooperation and initiatives, plan activities for upcoming industry events, as well as brainstorm for ways to develop the meeting industry in the region. With 25 participants from Cyprus, Greece, Italy and Turkey, the Summit’s focus was also to honor Nino Fiorentino, the father of the ICCA Mediterranean Chapter, who passed away earlier this year. Participants were very pleased with the Summit which they described as “productive” and “successful”, and expressed their enthusiasm to collaborate more closely together in the future. It was announced that the 2009 Summit will be hosted in Nice, France and the 2010 Summit in Cairo, Egypt.
