It’s raining green awards at IMEX

The trade show, held in Frankfurt from May 25th to 27th, awards each year some of its exhibitors for their environmental friendly attitude.

In 2010, the IMEX Gold Green Meeting Award honoured COP15, the UN Climate Change Summit which took place in Copenhagen in December 2009. This event, the largest gathering of political leaders ever organized, was held in collaboration between many partners including the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who collected the award, Visit Denmark, Wonderful Copenhagen, the City of Copenhagen, Bella Centre, MCI and 12 event organizers. In this same category, the Silver prize was awarded to Intel Corporation for its Intel Development Forum America Event which took place in San Francisco in September 2009.

Switzerland, known for its strong environmental commitment, received the IMEX Green Exhibition Award for its impressive number of carbon reduction measures throughout the show. Amongst all these measures, notably the use of Swiss wood in its stand construction and carbon-neutral promotional material, as well as all the staff (including the stand builders) coming to Frankfurt by train made Switzerland stand out from the crowd. This award intends to encourage all the exhibitors to contribute to IMEX‘s green policies and to make the show greener year after year.

Last but not least, two Australian convention centres walked away with both the Gold and the Silver IMEX Green Supplier Awards: Adelaide Convention Centre, winner of the Silver award last year, was rewarded by the Gold this time for its green policy’s improvement while the Brisbane Convention Centre won the Silver prize.
