Kempinski opens its First Luxury Hotel in Austria. Das Tirol in Jochberg: Alpine charm in a modern coating

19/12/2011

Munich, 9 December 2011 – After 100 days of renovation works and staff training the day has come: With the opening of the “Das Tirol”, Kempinski Hotels opens its first residence in Austria. Even compared to the Kitzbühel standards, the luxurious hotel has a lot on offer: it is the only five-star-hotel in Kitzbühel and the surrounding area that has direct access to the slopes.

With a surface of 3,600m², the Kempinski The Spa is a spa oasis where guests can feel at ease and relax and was labelled as a Leading Spa. Moreover it belongs to the distinguished circle of The Leading Hotels of the World – being the only hotel in this prominent ski resort.

“We are very proud of everything that has been created here in the last three months," says General Manager Henning Reichel. For weeks everything on the big construction site in Jochberg was adapted to meet the Kempinski standards. The result: Alpine materials and naturalness, wood, leather and loden dominate the picture. Reichel has brought the “charm of the Tyrolean mountains” into his hotel. “The Kempinski Das Tirol is highly individual,” states Reichel. The hotel is a luxurious, chic, elegant and comfortable alpine resort with great views and excellent service.

118 superior double rooms, 13 junior suites, 16 suites and one Penthouse suite. Two restaurants with distinctive menus on offer: The Steinberg and the Sra Bua by Wini Brugger restaurants. Down-to-earth cuisine from the Tyrolean mountains and surprising taste adventures from Asia. Together with his team of around 150 employees, General Manager Reichel wants to make their guests' stay unforgettable. “We want to excite them with the best service and provide eye-opening experiences”, he says.

Rupert Simoner, Regional Vice President of Kempinski Hotels, is convinced that the hotel will be a success. "Kitzbühel and the surrounding area is one of the most attractive regions in the Alps," he says, claiming that with the new hotel design and the individual service, Kempinski once again demonstrates "its good knowledge of alpine destinations in the luxury sector".

Das Tirol is first and foremost a leisure resort for anybody who wants to relax and recharge in the splendid mountain scenery of the Kitzbühel Alps. However, the hotel is also ideally suited to conferences, incentive events and large functions: it offers six conference rooms of adaptable shapes for up to 420 people over around 800 m2, all of which are fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

The opening offer in the Das Tirol hotel is valid until 25 December – the superior double room starts at just 200 euros a night including breakfast. The Kitzbühel Ski Special is available for three, five or seven nights. The package includes a ski pass for each person for two, four or six days depending on the number of nights in the hotel, breakfast buffet and evening meal in the hotel and entrance to Kempinski The Spa. Depending on the duration of the stay, two people pay 906 euros, 1532 euros or 2136 euros for the superior double room.
