Women around the world are standing up against breast cancer in a united front to alleviate the disease. October is the month designated by researchers to bring awareness and raise funds to finding the cause, prevention, and treatment for the disease. Effecting one in eight women, breast cancer has become the most prevalent cancer found in women seconded only to lung cancer.

Not only the people who have been directly affected by the devastation breast cancer brings with it are joining the cause to eradicate it. Many hotel groups have jumped on the band wagon, in the hopes of becoming a contributing factor in this inspirational movement.

In Fort Myers, FL, the Crowne Plaza Hotel is kicking off the Pink festivities with “The American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” party. This event will be an evening of pampering for team members and guests who will be gearing up for the 5k cancer walk to take place the next day.

In New York, the Crowne Plaza White Plains has created two “pink rooms” that are more than just trendy rooms decked out in every color of pink imaginable; they are also a way to donate to breast cancer research. With every customer who stays in one of those rooms, the hotel donates 10 percent of the revenues to the American Cancer Society.
