Mint moves abroad04/07/2011
Opened last month, the Mint Hotel Amsterdam marks this UK chain’s first foray into the international market.
With a prime location overlooking the IJ River in the city centre, this four-star hotel is just a two-minute walk from Central Station and 15 minutes from Schiphol Airport, and is within easy reach of all of Amsterdam’s major attractions.
A modern, contemporary structure, the Mint Hotel nevertheless succeeds in blending in with its historic surroundings. Designed by leading architects in accordance with the highest environmental standards available, it places a particular emphasis on natural light, and floor-to-ceiling windows can be found throughout its public spaces and in all of its 553 guestrooms and suites. Each room also features a multimedia iMac system and complimentary high speed Wi-Fi.
The hotel’s facilities encompass the City Café restaurant, which offers a high quality, contemporary menu with a British twist, as well as a choice of three bars. Its 19 meeting rooms, which include the versatile Skylounge function rooms with their spectacular view over the stunning Amsterdam skyline, make it a superb venue for all kinds of events.
“Our expansion into Europe is a significant step for the group and Mint Hotel Amsterdam represents a new era for us,” commented David Orr, co-founder and chief executive of Mint Hotels. “The hotel is meticulously designed, with floor to ceiling windows, soundproof walls and fresh air conditioning. Our meeting and events spaces are second to none and we look forward to welcoming business and leisure guests alike.”
