Mother Earth celebrated at the Aloft Abu Dhabi

Aloft Abu Dhabi
On March 17th, all the lights were turned off all around the world during Earth Hour 2010. In order to support this event, the Aloft Abu Dhabi, opened in late 2009 in ADNEC, organized a unique charity dinner-in-the-dark in its Maï Café.
During this meal, 70 % of the hotel illumination was shut down and more than the half of the benefits of the evening were donated to WWF Earth Hour Foundation. The hotel, which is composed of 408 spacious loft-inspired rooms, also offers to its guests some eco options such as premium parking spots for hybrid cars. As is becoming the norm in hotels, guests can also choose to reuse their towels and linens and avoid water and energy consumption. For meetings and events, the Aloft Abu Dhabi boasts the 9th Floor Splash Garden, a 1,500 sq m space dedicated to events to up to 1 180 guests as well as 2 boardrooms connected to a break-out space. The destination is also involved in an eco-friendly program. Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) is aiming to save 10 % energy, 20 % water and 20 % waste-to-landfill over the coming year. “These ambitious targets focus on improving the environmental performance of hotels so that they are in line with, if not better than, the world’s greenest hotels”, explained Nasser Al Reyami, ADTA’s director Tourism Standards.
