MPI: meeting of minds in Malaga

VIDEO   Find inspiration! That is the dynamic motto of the MPI 2010 European Meetings & Events Conference (EMEC) aiming at making tomorrow’s meetings more efficient.

Ending today (28th February to 2^nd of March), the event took over the Trade Fairs & Congress Center of Malaga and focused on meeting planners’ current challenges and issues as well as the industry’s latest trends through a pertinent educational programme. On the agenda: a look at the next generation of meetings, the ‘meeting architecture’ process (the concept created by Maarten Vanneste) and of course, sustainability, a priority for EMEC. This financially sustainable event makes eco-reponsability a reality: from the transportation and accommodation to the food (70% of local products) and the reduced use of paper, along with their carbon offset project, their Windmill power plant in India. Another feature of the event was the Community Project, a green walk organised this Sunday with volunteer delegates in the National Park. The 10 euros donated by each participant will help the replacement of non-native trees in the Montes de Malaga. The Spanish city is also part of the EU Sustainable Energy Action Plan to reduce by 20% its CO2 emissions by 2020. To help people connect, network and entertain, Song Division will offer delegates the possibility of recording a song with professional musicians. A chance for budding songsters to find their inner rockstar!
