Seoul's global profile continues to rise

New honors for the city are bestowed both home and abroad. The Seoul Tourism Organization recently participated in AIME 2010, the largest industry expo for meetings and exhibitions in the Asia-Pacific region, held March 2nd-3rd.

Seoul’s finest features both ancient and modern were exhibited to the global audience of over 3,500 at a booth designed by the Seoul Convention Bureau, which went on to receive ‘Best New Exhibitor Award’, for the most effective and attractive stall present.

The successful promotion further boosted the city’s profile as a top all-round MICE venue, setting the tone for the level of success the local industry hopes to maintain and build upon during ‘Visit Seoul Year 2010’, with the city planning to attract 300, 000 business visitors to its many events.

Meanwhile, it was recently announced that Seoul will host the forthcoming T20 Tourism Ministers Meeting ahead of the G-20 summit in November. The Group of 20 member nations selected Seoul as the host venue during the inaugural T20 meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa late last month. Participation is restricted to G-20 members only. The T20 Meeting was created in order to stimulate tourism so as to contribute to global economic development.

The Seoul Convention Bureau is a division of the Seoul Tourism Organization, a joint public/private venture launched by the city of Seoul and private enterprise in February 2008 with a core mission to represent Seoul as a convention and tourism destination.
