St. Pancras International Station welcomes Deutsche Bahn
02/11/2010
Last week the German international transport and logistics services provider announced the beginning of a regular service between Frankfurt and London in 2013.
The news was revealed on October 19th with the presentation of a high speed ICE (InterCity Express) train at the St. Pancras station in London. DB leapt at the opportunity provided by the liberalisation of the European rail transport market. As Theresa Villiers, UK Rail Minister, put it, DB will now allow travellers to reach new European destinations in an easier and greener way. Regular ICE services are planned for the new timetable beginning in 2013.
Three return train journeys between Frankfurt and London via Cologne, Brussels and Lille will be operated. Connections from Amsterdam to London via Rotterdam will also be added. With the addition of this new line, one will be able to reach London from Frankfurt in only 5 hours. DB ordered 15 high speed trains, the first of which will be delivered next year.
