Starwood helps meeting planners go greener
05/07/2010 Starwood
The Westin Diplomat Resort & SpaBy 2011, the hotel group will introduce Sustainable Meeting guidelines in all its North American properties in order to help the meeting planners in the organization of eco friendly events.
This guideline also formalizes the environmental practices of the hotels and the eco awareness of the group. The program will be focused on 5 major components: Paperless Meeting Planning, Sustainable Meeting Services, Sustainable Food & Beverage Practices, Impact Assessment Tools and Socially Conscious Activities. In each of these categories, various services are incorporated into all events taking place at the hotel such as sustainable menu choice and bottled water alternatives, energy-efficient digital signage or potted plants in place of fresh-cut flowers. The hotel group will also launch the Meeting Impact Report, an internal online tool to demonstrate to the client the impact of their meetings on the environment.
