Stockholm capitalizes on its European Green Capital 2010 status

Taking seriously its role as number one European Green Capital, the Swedish city invites delegations from other European countries to discover its solutions for leading a greener way of life in numerous domains.

Regarding urban projects, transportation systems that are both effective and sustainable, educational, social, cultural, and political, Stockholm boasts exemplary eco-friendly advances in all kinds of sectors. With their Professional Study Visits, the city aims to strengthen its network with other cities and increase the possibilities of sharing experience and learning from others.

About fifteen workshops and seminars are also organized through the year to exchange experiences and best practices among European cities on issues such as strategies for combatting climate change, mobility and sustainable travelling, sustainable urban development and renewal, waste management, sustainable water management, etc.

Of course, many of the meeting venues in Stockholm are eco-friendly such as the Stockholm International Fairs as well as the brand new Stockholm Waterfront Congress Centre made of a glass facade composed of 1, 040 sq m of solar collectors which produces as much power as 900,000 standard low-energy bulbs. The structure is also cooled by water drawn from the lake.
