The brand new section “IT Break” is designed to give meeting planners hot off the press and relevant information about new technologies and the IT sector.
To begin with, let’s explore the recent Google Wave. With its baseline ‘communicate and collaborate in real time’, this free online software application was first revealed during the last Google congress. The Waves describe equal parts conversation and document. Available in 40 languages, the collaboration platform brings together to one place e-mails, text messages, blogs, tweets and photo sharing systems as well as integration with Twitter, Facebook and websites… Google Wave is very convenient for note-taking at events, and thanks to its simultaneous updates, meeting planners can manage group agendas, meeting invitations, group brainstorming and conference feedback etc. As Corbin Ball, worldwide consultant specialized in meetings technology, underlines, this new technology is for the moment at its beginnings, which can give rise to certain limitations that should disappear once completely developed.
