The Québec City Convention Centre announces good green results
15/07/2008 CanadaIn April 2007, the congress centre launched the Eco-Friendly Events Program, which gives clients the opportunity to organize events with a sustainable development approach
This program offers three kinds of actions in order to minimize the environmental footprint of their events: zero waste, zero waste combined with offset action, zero waste combined with zero carbon. Since last year, 14 events have been held within the guidelines to the Eco-Friendly Events Program, and have saved a total of 23.9 tons of water, 101 trees, and 19 tons of waste from landfills and incinerators. The program has also prevented the emission of 15.3 tons of greenhouse gas. Thanks to the program, 18 345 delegates have been made aware of the sustainable development issue and $10,000 have been raised for foundations protecting the environment.
