02/09/2008 TurkeyAt the junction between Europe and Asia, Turkey boasts cultural eclecticism as well as a striking juxtaposition of new and old
Besides the magnificent Blue Mosque and the cathedral of Saint Sophia, Istanbul (ranked 19th in the last ICCA report) features new conference facilities including the Elite World Istanbul (opened in July), the W Hotel (the very first of Starwood’s trendiest brand to open in Europe), and the Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at the Bosphorus (a converted XIXth century palace proposing the utmost in luxury). The Istanbul Convention & Exhibition Centre, at the heart of the city’s “Conference Valley”, rounds out the business offer of the 2010 European Capital of Culture. To the south, Cornelia Diamond Golf Resort in Belek (Antalya), opened in spring 2008, boasts a 27-hole Nick Faldo golf course ideal for incentive groups. The Swissotel Grand Efes Izmir, which will open in October of this year, offers services in line with its distinction as one of the Leading Hotels of the World. Hilton will open its first resort in Turkey, the Hilton Dalaman Golf Resort & Spa, in mid-2009 in the Mediterranean city of Mugla, while Dedeman Hotels & Resorts also has 4 new hotels due to open in 2009.
