Vancouver with glowing hearts

Mountains, ocean, vibrant city... You can find everything in the largest city of British Columbia.

Vancouver, which is now under the spotlight as the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games' hosting city, is also one of the most important conventions and meetings destinations in the region thanks to its flagship, the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre. An expansion project completed in April 2009 tripled the size of the existing venue which now offers 45 690 sq m of exhibition, conference and meeting space. The city also hosts numerous conference hotels: the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver (556 guests, 2 grand ballrooms, 3 500 sq m of meeting space), the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre (736 guest rooms, 4 600 sq m of meeting rooms including a trio of ballrooms), the Westin Bayshore (511 guest rooms and the largest ballroom in Western Canada) and the Hyatt Regency (644 guest rooms and 4 200 sq m of function rooms) are amongst the largest of Vancouver. The new Fairmont Pacific Rim, situated beside the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre, opened just in time for the Olympic Games and boasts 377 guest rooms, 3 ballrooms, 3 meeting rooms and 2 boardrooms. Many events will be organized during the Winter Olympic Games starting with the Live City Downtown, an urban gathering place in the heart of the city, offering live coverage of the Games. Situated in the Live City area, the Canada Pavilion 2010 offers a true Canadian experience with fun and interactive activities. In the Lonsdale Quay Market, winter is honored with the Winterfest, an inaugural 17-day celebration of the Winter Spirit until February, 28th with concerts, entertainment, live games, etc. For incentives in the Canadian countryside, the Grouse Mountain offers magical views of Vancouver at only 15 min from the city centre while the Rocky Mountaineer train carries its passengers along the Canadian Rockies and their cool glaciers, natural hot springs and dense forests.
