28/04/2009 USAThe Southeast Tourism Society, based in Atlanta, represents tourism interests in the 12 U.S. Southeastern states, from West Virginia to Louisiana
This society is convinced that tourism is one of the main important resources of the country and tries to develop the attractiveness of this region, while promoting sustainable tourism by encouraging partnerships between the public and private sectors of the industry. The Southeast Tourism Society’s pledge aims at conserving the natural, cultural and historic resources of the Southeast which are the basis of the tourism and travel industry as well as showing respect for the values of the people living there. The association has already set the example with volunteer projects in cities affected by Hurricane Katrina or with events such as its semi-annual conference held in March 2008 in Asheville, North Carolina, where all of the resources were local.
